Blue Springs City Theatre
Experience the arts
All are welcome!
It is the mission of Blue Springs City Theatre to support and promote the performing arts in an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment.
Our History
Since 1986, Blue Springs Community Theatre (BSCT) has presented live theatre to the community more than 100 productions ranging from children's theater - "Winnie the Pooh," "Peter Pan," and "The Jungle Book;" small shows like "Curious Savage," "Miracle Worker," and "Steel Magnolias;" to large summer musicals like "The Sound of Music," "Annie," and "Hello, Dolly!" Thousands of people from the community have worked both onstage and backstage. BSCT has always had an inclusive philosophy and has welcomed thousands of people both onstage and backstage who wish to contribute their time and talents to the theatre, including those who may not be able to afford the more expensive theater camps, classes, and productions in the area. Costs to participate are intentionally kept low - often only the cost of a script (usually $10-$15). Tickets to performances are kept as low as possible as well, in order to provide the community with a source of affordable live theater.
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Blue Springs City Theatre was forced to "go dark" like so many other theaters across the country. As our venue at the time was located in Blue Springs High School, even as restrictions lifted, we were unable to access our space. Currently, we are mobile, performing in a variety of venues. We are actively seeking opportunities to establish a permanent home venue.
